The mission outreach of Bellamy United Methodist Church endeavors to reach far beyond the borders of Gloucester County. We are blessed with the opportunity to send young people from our congregation to the foreign mission field on a short-term basis. The support and participation of the Rappahannock District Youth Choir is continually significant as the youth perform mission work within our district and region. Bellamy participated in the effort to send our District Superintendent to Russia, as well as providing school and health kits for the children of Afghanistan. Bellamy also supports Clara Biswas, a full-time missionary to Cambodia.
Local missions are also a very active area for our congregation. We annually support the Salvation Army Angel Tree Project, and have our own Mitten Tree, which provides hats and gloves for the children of the Henry Fork Service Center in western Virginia. In addition, Bellamy supports the work of the Laurel Shelter, Gloucester-Mathews Free Clinic and the Mattaponi Healing Eagle Free Clinic. All of these projects are supported with great enthusiasm. After Hurricane Isabel passed through our area, articles needed to support mission work in the hardest hit area of the county were assembled and sent out.
Bellamy is currently in the process of expanding our mission work in several ways. Please visit the various pages on the different Ministries in our church. You can find their meeting times on the Bellamy Church Calendar as well. We are ever diligent to hear God’s message providing us with direction to go as He opens the doors of opportunity to be witnesses for Him.
