United Methodist Men

The United Methodist Men of Bellamy Church meet every thrid Saturday of the month and 8:00am for a fellowship breakfast, business meeting and a program. The General Commission on United Methodist Men has the following statement as the foundation for it’s existence: United Methodist Men exists to declare the centrality of Christ in every man’s life.” Men’s ministry lead to the spiritual growth of men and effective discipleship. This purpose is served as men are called to model the servant leadership of Jesus Christ.
The church library was a project of the group, having been finished in the fall of 2003. The men support a variety of local mission projects, both financially and with physical labor. Benefactors have been the Mattaponi Indian Reservation Health Clinic, Gloucester-Matthews Free Clinic, United Methodist Committee on Relief, and Gloucester Housing Authority. The men have also built ramps and split wood for the handicapped. In the past, bill have been paid and items purchased for the needy.
The men also sponsor money-raising projects during the year for their mission projects. One of these is a Garage and Bake Sale at the church in the spring. Another event is the Chili and Chowder Sale in the fall. All men of the church are warmly welcomed into the group, as the harvest is great and the laborers are few.
